Principal Reliability Engineer - Drives

As a Principal Reliability Engineer at ABB’s Drives Products Division, you will be responsible for generating information that leads to superior drives products and customer experience through continual improvement of quality and reliability. The role is located in Helsinki, Finland. Your responsibilities
- Identifying root causes of product failures by using scientific approach and ABB Drives reliability framework
- Identifying, verifying, and proposing corrective actions to eliminate failure causes
- Gathering, generating, and sharing knowledge on physics of failure to increase the local and global awareness of reliability
- Providing tangible and quantified feedback to the global engineering community to sup-port continual improvement of new product designs
- Participating and leading improvement projects with global teams of internal and external partners
- Working together with the global supplier base towards more reliable component designs
Your background
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering and five years of experience in power electronics or electrical field
- Hands-on experience in electrical fault isolation and physical failure analysis of frequency converters is required
- Understanding of Physics of Failure and working knowledge of modern failure analysis techniques
- Strong ability to understand and interpret schematic and component data sheets
- Understanding of reliability testing concepts and data analysis
- Electrical failure analysis using oscilloscopes, signal generators and spectrum analyzers
- Expertise in analysis of power conversion circuits including active power devices and passive components
- Effective failure isolation skills through circuit analysis and measurement
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills on Printed Circuit Board Assemblies
- Excellent documentation and reporting skills in English
